...And every sentence spoken after sounded sung even when not
Backyard, breaking the cracks open into a chasm
one ear shattering blast, a never ending pattern
everything was falling apart, a common courtesy
to those of us escaping the dark, a just emergency
I thought it'd be different than this,
I thought of a shadow devouring my grandchildren
'cause there was a war here, where there is a light now
your breath between my breasts and legs like dragons playing chase I hope you stay I hope you never change I hope you stay the same I hope you change
...And every sentence spoken was brought to you by pure disaster, and every word we spoke felt colder than black nights...
No moon, no light
Under a royal sky, each end of the city on either side
the lake amalgamating stars and billboards in my eyes
your ghost and I entangled, slow dance under solemn beats
we spoke of a memorial that I'll never see, but I felt it
And if you find me landlocked and legs crossed, tense and eyes closed,
Restless and unsure of everything they told us, I don't know what sort of colours show
Under a royal sky, lake water surrounding on either side
black, warm, and repugnant like dishwater left overnight
your ghost and I departed, somber like a love letter
left collecting dust in a drawer, never remembered
But in the comfort of a hoodie I chose to keep stylish in a cozy way
heard muted notes and dull tones swirl listless under sleepy cover of the lake
Under a royal sky, each end of the world passes me by
the frigid water warmer now a never ending night as your
ghost and I untouchable, but in each others' sights
eternally untroubled under no moon and no light
In the coolest air, your ghost became mine
the blackest night scared away by final night
in the coolest air the embers simmered
My beak grew
My talons clutched something
